Poojisalendhe (Kannada)

Bangalore..the garden city of India.. a place that brings back beautiful, most cherished memories...a place where I've left behind my wonderful family, my friends...a place where I learnt to speak Kannada...and most of all, the place where I got to briefly learn
classical music .. Thoughts of Bangalore make me very nostalgic and this made me want to sing a Kannada song..a language in which I've never sung before... S. Janaki, one of the most versatile singer in my opinion, is my favorite among the South Indian female voices. I've always been intimidated by some of her songs..It's a feeling of wanting to sing the song so bad but a fear of not being able to :(
About a year ago, Ramesh, who I met thro' Taranaa sent me the track of this beautiful Kannada song by SJ from the movie Eradu Kanasu and asked me if I could try singing it. It's a song I loved the minute I heard it. Music by Rajan-Nagendra, the famous duo is just awesome and SJ has given it a mesmerizing effect with her unmatchable style ..
The track is by Manjula Gururaj of Sadhana Music School, Bangalore. Thanks Ramesh for sharing this with me! I'd really appreciate ur comments on my attempt and thanx in advance for listening :)

Also, I am happy to let u all know that the songs I recorded with Srikanth Devarajan is part of the album 'Padal' which released on the 26th of January, 2007.

Vidyu-

I guess "Music Has No Language" is most appropriately established in this case. Because, even though I did'nt understand a word, your rendition kept me captivated to the microphone! Your voice is a pure bliss, and by adding the classical touch in this song (a bhajan type, I take it?), you made it a pure heaven. I can also tell you sang this while keeping your eyes closed.....because, the amount of concentration, devotion & love-for-music was V-E-R-Y obvious (don't disappoint me now!).
The track was nothing but a solid piece of gold, with live instrumentation.
Truly a Masterpiece, Ma'am! Treasure it.

(btw, what were the tick-tock sounds at the beginning, in the track? was it some sort of cue?).

Wonderful song and equally wonderful rendition. Your voice quality and range is simply amazing. Keep it up.

Just a small suggestion - if you can concentrate a bit more on tala. If you notice, Poojisalende starts on ninth beat but after every stanza it starts on first beat.

Beautiful rendition. Interestingly, the Telugu version of this song was sung by Vani Jayaram.

Heard it so many times. Superb!!!
Karaoke was also superb. But I thought you would have removed the tick in the beginning. But that is not a negative for the song. Its really awesome. :-)
With Love,
Arun.

This song remainds me another song in Malayalam "Neelakkurinjikal pookkunna veedhiyil" by Raveendran Master.

Hi Vidyu,

I have recently gained interest in audio blogs. The quality of your recordings are very good and the tracks are also of excellent quality. Also, listening to your songs, I feel you have all the time in the world to take a breath and sing it with full voice. The final result is very nice. Do you slow the tracks down by 1/2 a beat? Being an amateur singer, breath control is my biggest problem and the karaoke tracks I find only make it worse for me. In trying to keep to track with the track, I lose the expression in the song. Can you guide me a bit in this? Thanks, Ramya
